Care Disclaimer

DRAFT. This document describes how Sanctuary actually operates today. It has not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel and is not a substitute for legal advice. Review with counsel before relying on it at public scale.

Sanctuary is a quiet, supportive space. It is not, and does not attempt to be, a substitute for professional care.

Sanctuary is not

  • Not therapy. The Aura Companion, Ask Sanctuary, and every human in this space are not licensed therapists, counselors, or psychologists.
  • Not medical care. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any condition. Do not stop or start medication based on anything you read in Sanctuary.
  • Not legal advice. Stories about hard situations are not a guide for how to handle yours.
  • Not emergency response. If you or someone near you is in immediate physical danger, contact local emergency services. See Crisis Resources.
  • Not a replacement for licensed professionals. If you are working with a therapist, doctor, lawyer, or social worker, please continue. Sanctuary sits alongside that work, not in place of it.

What Sanctuary is

A place to reflect, to be witnessed, to pray, to leave a voice letter to someone, to read what others have been brave enough to say, and to return to your breath. The platform is built for regulation and connection โ€” not engagement, not virality, not metrics.

How the Companion behaves

  • The Aura Companion will not give medical, legal, or emergency advice.
  • If it detects language suggesting immediate risk, it will point to crisis resources before continuing.
  • It cannot see your journal, your private voice letters, or any other user's content.

If you are struggling right now

Please open Crisis Resources. The numbers there are staffed by humans trained for exactly this moment.
